Man from Reno is a measured yet consistently engaging murder mystery with a noir bent. This is a slow burn done right that takes its time unraveling its secrets and allowing viewers to get invested in the characters.
On the outskirts of San Francisco, a small-town sheriff (Paul) investigates a murder. Elsewhere, to escape the hype of her own fame, a renowned Japanese mystery novelist (Aki) abruptly leaves a book tour and withdraws to San Francisco where she meets a charismatic traveler from Reno. But when the traveler inexplicably disappears--leaving behind a suitcase--happenstance makes an unlikely pair out of Aki and Paul as they attempt to connect the dots to a bizarre and sinister mystery.
